Program and Events Coordinator for Student Affairs, School of Medicine - Georgetown University Medical Center

Requirements

The Georgetown University School of Medicine's Office of Student Affairs (OSA) oversees and engages several functional areas critical to supporting the many aspects of academic and extracurricular medical student life, including student's personal and professional well-being.

The Program and Events Coordinator primarily works to fulfill and support medical student needs and requests, as well as providing comprehensive large-scale event and program coordination for student-led and School of Medicine-wide events. The incumbent serves as a key administrative support between students and SOM offices/administrative functions, working to facilitate access to core student services and resources and providing hands-on planning and support for student-run and school-sponsored events, programs, and activities. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage and triage the main Student Affairs office email account.
  • Assist with the management of medical school annual requirements, as well as the tracking of off-cycle medical students.
  • Run selection processes for various School of Medicine award programs.
  • Spearhead comprehensive large-scale event planning.
  • Provide administrative support for student-run events and initiatives.


Work Interactions

Under the leadership of the Senior Associate Dean of Students, the incumbent will report to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and often serves as the first point of contact for medical students requiring general guidance, documentation, and/or support. The Program Coordinator, alongside the broader OSA team, often collaborates and works closely with all SOM offices, the GUMC/MedStar community, and GU student services offices.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to empathetically and diplomatically navigate sensitive student issues
  • Ability to manage long-term planning processes and multiple shifting priorities under varying time constraints
  • Strong administrative judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Experience and strong knowledge in online calendaring, spreadsheets, and database and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Box)
  • 1-2 years of relevant professional experience and/or degree in higher education, project/program management, or similar, event planning preferred
  • Experience managing and driving long-term projects across varied stakeholders preferred

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$20.16 - $31.30

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
