Position Summary: The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The Emergency and Disaster Management Program within the Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice is seeking two faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 1, 2024. These are nine-month tenure track positions with summer teaching possibilities and are for our residential program with some likely online teaching responsibilities. Review of applications will begin September 15th and continue until the position is filled.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities include teaching, research, and service.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Emergency and Disaster Management, Criminology/Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Sociology, Urban Planning or other discipline closely related to the field of Emergency & Disaster Management. Highly qualified ABD candidates will be considered if the degree is completed by 8/31/2024. Candidates must have a clearly articulated research agenda in Emergency & Disaster Management and a commitment of academic excellence and collegiality.
Preferred Qualifications: The Emergency and Disaster Program has an established record of engaging students through undergraduate research and experiential learning and is consistently ranked as one of the best undergraduate programs in the nation. The ideal candidate will have an interest in contributing to these efforts and have a firm foundation to teach a range of emergency and disaster management courses.
